altona has recently launched the FlexStar® CT & NG PCR Detection Mix 1.5 (RUO), our first product of the STI (sexually transmitted infection) panel.

The FlexStar® LDT (RT-)PCR Detection Mix 1.5 (RUO) is out now. This detection mix is designed for the real-time PCR based amplification and detection of nucleic acids. Specific primer and probes for the amplification and detection of different pathogen combinations can be added as needed to create a lab developed test (LDT). A CE-IVD version is under development.

April 25 is World Malaria Day. The potentially life-threatening disease is caused by one of the 5 human pathogenic Plasmodium parasite species whereof P. falciparum and P. vivax represent the greatest threat. altona provides two RealStar® PCR malaria kits.

On the 14th of April is World Chagas disease Day. Chagas is a neglected tropical disease and is endemic in about 21 countries in the Americas. It is vector-borne and caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan parasite. With the RealStar® Chagas PCR Kit 1.0 altona Diagnostics provides an in vitro diagnostic test for the qualitative detection of T. cruzi specific DNA.
