Acute gastroenteritis is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Enteric viruses are the most common cause, especially for gastroenteritis in children. Two of the most important viral diarrhea pathogens are norovirus and rotavirus.
The CE-marked FlexStar® Norovirus Type & Rotavirus RT-PCR Detection Mix 1.5 is out now. It is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR technology, for the qualitative detection and differentiation of norovirus genogroup I (GI), norovirus genogroup II (GII) and rotavirus specific RNA in human stool specimens. The assay is validated for use with the AltoStar® Automation System AM16 for nucleic acid extraction, the AltoStar® Internal Control 1.5 and the FlexStar® (RT-)PCR Amplification Mix 1.5.
The FlexStar® products are combinable ready-to-use PCR assays for quick and parallel testing of pathogens causing similar symptoms. The optimized PCR design ensures reduced cycler time and allows up to 96 results per real-time PCR cycler in just one hour.
