altona launches FlexStar^® monkeypox virus RUO

In 2022, multiple cases of monkeypox were identified in several non-endemic regions. Until now, the current outbreak of monkeypox virus resulted in over 6,900 reported cases worldwide in 52 countries (source: CDC, July 6, 2022). With the RealStar^® Zoonotic Orthopoxvirus PCR Kit 1.0, altona Diagnostics already offered a reagent system, based on real-time PCR technology, for the reliable detection of zoonotic (non-variola) Orthopoxvirus species specific DNA – including monkeypox. As the cases are still rising, there is the need for a monkeypox virus specific reagent system, which we now provide with the new FlexStar^® Monkeypox virus PCR Detection Mix 1.5. In addition to the monkeypox virus DNA specific amplification and detection system, the FlexStar^® Monkeypox virus PCR Detection Mix 1.5 includes oligonucleotides for amplification and detection of a sampling control (human β-actin gene).
