My professional path

I finished a two-year training program as a Biological Technical Assistant at the School of Life Science at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. During this time, I have done one of my four-month internships at altona Diagnostics. After completing my training in 2013, altona offered me a position. I was given the chance to try out different departments. In 2017 I joined the operations team, working in the Quality Control Assays group.

In 2023, I made the decision to move to France and applied for a position within the French subsidiary. Luckily, altona reviewed and accepted my application. Since then, I have been working as a Sales and Logistics Assistant. All colleagues in France welcomed me very warmly, and I am happy to be part of a great team. Over time, my responsibilities have expanded, and representing Quality Management at altona France is now one of the additional roles I have taken on.

I am grateful that I can remain in regular contact with the Hamburg team and continue to gain insight into the final stages of the production chain.

My tasks as Technical Assistant Quality Control Assays in Hamburg

During my time as a Technical Assistant in Hamburg, we reviewed the components of the PCR kit to ensure they met the necessary requirements. Our team took samples of individual tubes from a larger batch for a PCR run. We approved further production and packaging if the results were satisfactory. Once the kits had been finalized and packed with the previously tested components, we checked them again before releasing them for sale. Throughout the day, each employee analyzed different kits.

My professional highlight

I enjoy taking responsibility and being accountable for my work. During my Hamburg time, as my own project, I developed a OneNote template to track our internal testing progress within the group. Also in my previous role, drawing on my experience with software, I designed a Visual Basic program that allows us to quickly enter reports into tables. This has further automated our internal evaluation process.

That’s why I like working at altona

Communication with colleagues works well and we are all working closely together. My ideas are taken seriously, and I am given the freedom to develop and propose new concepts. This open and collaborative working atmosphere within the company is also reflected in our strong team spirit.

And that’s also possible

I have fond memories of all the joint activities we did collectively. Especially during the Advent season, we used to visit Christmas markets, where we truly enjoyed ourselves and spent a wonderful time together.
