My professional path

Immediately after finishing high school, I started my apprenticeship at altona Diagnostics in September 2015 as an office management clerk. Until I graduated in January 2018, I was mainly working in the accounting department and was then seamlessly taken on as a permanent employee in Accounting.


My tasks as Accounting professional

„I start as early as 7 a.m. in the morning.”

Supported by a current altona trainee, we book all business transactions: bank statements and the purchase of goods. We are also responsible for the complete accounts payable and fixed asset accounting, plus parts of the accounts receivable.


We perform due date analysis and point out late payments. We receive a bank statement from our bank account every day – sometimes there are 20 items, sometimes up to 40 bank statement pages. Other tasks include reports to statistical offices and advance sales tax returns.


My professional highlight

An extra job that I really like is the accounting for our French branch. I have familiarized myself with another financial system and exchange ideas with the employees from France.


Perhaps unusual: I like to write reminders. A good preliminary analysis is important here.  


That’s why I like working at altona

I like coming to work and appreciate the flexible working hours. I start as early as 7 a.m. in the morning. This way, I can finish work early and enjoy the long spare time every day.


Another great thing is that altona is supporting me in my further training to become a business administrator, which I’m doing at night school over a period of 2 years. altona is paying the tuition for this.


And that’s also possible

Team spirit is important to me. That’s why I introduced the “Start the day with Melanie”. This involves the entire group of more than 10 employees meeting with MS Teams for a quarter of an hour every morning at 8:45 a.m., whether they are in the office, in the mobile office or on the train. The focus is on free time, family, friends. New employees or trainees quickly feel at home in our team – and we “old hands” do anyway.
