My professional path

I studied biology in Aachen. From the beginning I was interested in the overlap between medicine and biology. As a doctoral student at the University Hospital Mannheim, I also spent two years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda near Washington D.C. After my doctorate, I wanted a strong practical orientation and came across altona, where I have been working since September 2019.

My tasks as Head of Product Management Assays & Reagents

„We have a good atmosphere for innovations.”

We accompany the complete product life cycle – from its creation, through the market maturity and sales phase, to the discontinuation of the product. We communicate with many departments, especially Research and Development and Production.

On a typical working day, we alternate between processing e-mails, holding meetings – now mostly online – and creating documents. This involves, for example, country-specific approvals or product changes.

We also draw up the requirements and specifications for product labelling. This task includes the box and tube labels as well as the instructions for use and the packaging material.

My professional highlight

In the second half of 2021, we comprehensively revised our entire AltoStar® product line in one fell swoop. That was about 20 launches at once. Many departments worked together intensively to get this huge project off the ground. Now all AltoStar® kits are prepared according to the new EU regulation and patient safety has further increased.

That’s why I like working at altona

I like the job-related diversity! There are no routine days. We also have a good atmosphere for innovations. When I make suggestions, I find that the door is wide open. What’s more, I appreciate the mix of experienced as well as new and younger employees. There are real opportunities for recent college graduates.

And that’s also possible

Within our marketing team, we regularly go on excursions, whether bike tours or curling. Everyone comes together, including our colleagues on parental leave.
