Together we can fight pneumonia: November 12 is World Pneumonia Day

November 12 is World Pneumonia Day, established by the Stop Pneumonia Initiative to raise awareness about the toll of pneumonia – one of the leading infectious causes of death of children and the elderly. Children are particularly vulnerable, every year more than 800,000 under five die from the disease. Especially in countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America the illness is common. To fight pneumonia, children need more vaccines, medication, and testing. Accurate and timely diagnosis is key.
