The RealStar^® ASR HSV-1 and HSV-2 Probes and the RealStar^® ASR HSV-1 and HSV-2 Primers are analyte specific reagents (ASR) for the in vitro detection of herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 specific DNA by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Nucleic acid sequence databases indicate that the RealStar^® ASR HSV-1 and HSV-2 Primer and the RealStar^® ASR HSV-1 and HSV-2 Probe do not show any binding affinity and significant homology with the following human pathogens: CMV, EBV, VZV, HHV-6, BKV, JCV, HAdV and Parvovirus B19
