For patients chronically infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA viral load monitoring is recommended by current guidelines to determine the efficacy of treatment. The AltoStar® HCV RT PCR Kit 1.5 is a novel assay, which recently received CE IVD mark. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the AltoStar® HCV RT PCR Kit 1.5 on the AltoStar® Automation System AM16.
For laboratory diagnosis of WNV infections PCR was shown to be a reliable tool for the rapid laboratory confirmation of the infection during the early phase of the disease. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the use of a commercial real-time RT-PCR kit in blood and urine samples from patients with WNV infection.
