Hamburg’s Senator for Economics Michael Westhagemann visits altona Diagnostics

On November 6, 2020, Senator Michael Westhagemann (Head of the State Ministry for Economic and Innovation) visited the diagnostic company. The managing directors Dr. Ulrich Spengler and Dr. Markus Hess gave a short review of more than 20 years of altona Diagnostics and an insight into the work and experiences of the last months. The corona pandemic has repeatedly confronted altona with various challenges, which the company has been able to overcome successfully up to now.

Since the beginning of the year altona has been working at full speed to meet the continuously high demand for PCR tests. During his visit, Senator Michael Westhagemann and Dr. Hinrich Habeck (Managing Director Life Science North) were able to find out where and how tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses or bacteria are produced in Hamburg. As Managing Director of the regional industry network, Dr. Habeck supports cooperation between the member companies and politics in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
