altona launches ExtraStar^® Purification Kit 2.0

The ExtraStar^® Purification Kit 2.0 is based on magnetic bead technology. All steps are performed by the KingFisher™ Flex Purification System (Thermo Fisher Scientific) within 30 minutes. These steps include:

• Cell lysis and subsequent binding of the nucleic acids to magnetic silica beads
• Washing steps to remove proteins and other impurities
• Release of the nucleic acids from the magnetic beads
• Removal of the magnetic beads

Afterwards the purified nucleic acids can directly be used for subsequent (RT-)PCR.

Having picked up customer wishes, who use the KingFisher™ workflow, altona has launched the CE-marked version of the ExtraStar^® kit. It enables even more time-efficient procedures and is especially useful in times of seasonal peaks, for example when the demand of influenza or SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing is high.
