My professional path
I studied technical and applied biology at University of Bremen. I completed the last two master’s semesters at altona Diagnostics in the enzyme group of Research & Development. At the end of my master's degree, altona offered me a position in Technical Support starting in December 2019, which I accepted. This way, I can say from my own experience: altona relies on people who come directly from university.
My tasks as Technical Support professional
After each installation of our automation system AltoStar® there is a training week for the customers, which I have led several times. On the first day, I show the workflow, after which the lab staff become active and I give instructions.
At the beginning of 2022, I was appointed deputy head of the Instrument Service group. Since then, I've been more involved in organizational processes and take on coordination within the team. A lot depends on the customer requests. Then we decide: do we send a service technician to the customer? Can it be solved remotely? Can the customer change it himself?
My professional highlights
„Here I have many opportunities to get involved“. |
The advancement of our ticket system is important for our department. It is becoming more and more automated and contains more and more features. After a short time and as a young employee, I was able to make a responsible contribution here.
In my early days, I was particularly impressed by our AltoStar® installation at the University Hospital in Aachen, one of the largest hospitals in Europe. Experiencing the logistical processes there as a whole and automating the PCR diagnostics sub-area was a highlight.
That’s why I like working at altona
As part of altona's growth, not all processes have been completely defined. Here I have many opportunities to get involved, to suggest improvements and people listen to me.
And I can say specifically for our Tech Support team: we maintain a family atmosphere and flat hierarchies. We as supervisors continue to feel fully part of the team. We'll tackle it together.
And that’s also possible
I am a member of the altona soccer group. We meet on small fields and let the ball roll. Once a year, our two main locations in Hamburg Altona compete against each other – Mörkenstraße versus Königstraße. We go to a beach soccer hall and work out for 2 hours.
