July 28 is World Hepatitis Day, one of WHO’s officially mandated global public health days. To fight viral hepatitis, it is important to raise global awareness and take action by providing vaccines, medication and testing. altona Diagnostics provides four different AltoStar® ready-to-use test kits for the detection of acute and chronic viral hepatitis via real-time PCR technology.

As part of the pilot project SCoPE (SARS-CoV-2 PCR examination), the feasibility of screening for SARS-CoV-2 using PCR analysis is being tested at two Hamburg day care centers. Instead of the usual nasopharyngeal swab for sample collection, children suck on a swab for 30 seconds for each sample.
The pilot project SCoPE is a cooperation of the accredited diagnostic laboratory Labor Dr. Fenner & Kollegen and altona Diagnostics GmbH – two Hamburg-based companies with many years of experience in the field of infectious diagnostics.

The 31st European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases will take place online from 9 –12 July 2021.

altona Diagnostics has launched the AltoStar® HIV RT-PCR Kit 1.5, an in vitro diagnostic test based on real-time RT-PCR technology. The kit detects and quantifies the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) specific RNA (groups M, N and O) in human EDTA plasma.
