altona FlexStar® STI panel (RUO) now with three products
altona has recently launched the FlexStar® UP & MH PCR Detection Mix 1.5 (RUO), which allows the qualitative detection and differentiation of Ureaplasma parvum (UP) and Mycoplasma hominis (MH).
The FlexStar® STI panel now comprises 3 different detection mixes based on real-time PCR technology for the detection of specific DNA from 7 different sexually transmitted pathogens. All 3 detection mixes are to be used with the FlexStar® (RT-)PCR Amplification Mix 1.5 and the AltoStar® Internal Control 1.5. CE versions of the three detection mixes are planned for 2024.
The FlexStar® CT & NG PCR Detection Mix 1.5 which allows the qualitative detection and differentiation of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae specific DNA and the FlexStar® MG & UU & TV PCR Detection Mix 1.5, for the qualitative detection and differentiation of Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Trichomonas vaginalis specific DNA have already been on the market. With the launch of the FlexStar® UP & MH PCR Detection Mix 1.5, which allows the qualitative detection and differentiation of Ureaplasma parvum (UP) and Mycoplasma hominis (MH), altona Diagnostics now provides three STI panel products.

The FlexStar® product line comprises combinable, ready-to-use PCR assays for the rapid and parallel investigation of pathogens causing similar symptoms. The PCR design is optimized for fast processing, in that way you can obtain up to 96 reactions per real-time PCR cycler in just 1h.
While the FlexStar® (RT-)PCR Amplification Mix 1.5 is an enzyme mix for real-time PCR based detection of pathogen specific nucleic acids, the different FlexStar® (RT-)PCR Detection Mixes contain all assay specific components (primers and probes for specific target detection), as well as a Positive Control (PC) and a No Template Control (NTC). The FlexStar® (RT-)PCR Detection Mixes are developed for use with the AltoStar® Internal Control.
CE-IVD versions of the FlexStar® detection mixes and further FlexStar® detection mixes from different panels will be launched in the future.
